ficus tree mainenance

how do i braid my ficus tree, and pruning it, am i supposed to trim the little new branches that come up from the soil, and it's not very full with leaves on the top how do i help it grow big and strong?

Remove the branches growing out of the soil completely, they are suckers and no use at all. If it's looking a bit sorry for itself I wouldn't do any other pruning but make sure it's well watered next year

hi, with my tree i have not braided i think it is only new shoots can be twisted round and in and out of the others as they grow i have a thin piece of green garden wire around the top of what a want the trunck to be and then the top hangs out with the leaves on top to look like a big tree. As more shoots grow you will just have to let them grow to reach the top this will slowly biuld up its stregnth and thickness
