Talking frying pans, I remember one day coming home, and my small daughter had cooked herself a fry up. I looked in the kitchen and the floor was glistening, so I thought bless her little heart she's mopped the floor.

Not so, it was a thin universal film of cooking oil, and for good measure was all over the cooker and much of the wall.

I have banned frying in my kitchen, it's simply not worth it.
Blimey, it's turned into a massacre in here now....breasts, thighs, legs, noses and fingers everywhere.

Whiffey- stop pouting, it's very unbecoming.
lol Mamma. I'm having ladies fingers in a stew with corn and tomatoes, and baked sweet potatoes. Of course, and a huge salad.

Otherwise known as the usual Tuesday evening on AB Boo.
I bought a chicken in garlic sauce thingy from Iceland (my new fave shop! lol), but I've just discovered that it takes 8 minutes in the microwave, OR 50 mins in the oven...

I don't have a bleeding microwave in my new flat!!! Argh...

Ham and coleslaw sarnie for me!

PS: donations welcome! I'm launching the "Get Max a Microwave cos she's a lasy cow" appeal.
tigger *lol*

funny, as he is a grown man, he will no longer need the extra sustenance of a more substantial meal! Tell him if he wants to cook, he is more than welcome ;)

Just banged a pork joint in the oven, and Mr Pops is doing the rest. Sometimes they are worth keeping ;)

figure, your tea sounds lovely! Erm, ladies' fingers? Okra (sp?)? Well, actually, bu99er the "sp?", is that even the word I am looking for?!

x
Yes funnygirl, ladys' fingers are also called okra or ochro. It's delicious in stews, sliced thinly and fried, or breaded whole and fried, it makes a wonderful first course.
Well, I've got vegetarian sushi (to be served up on a bed of shredded lettuce and a dash of soy sauce), a little shredded cucumber, pepper & celery salad (with a little chilli & tomato sauce to perk it up), some quinoa & amaranth cakes (a savoury sort of cracker) and plain cottage cheese. Pud is a fruit yoghurt. Alcohol is a can of Stella and maybe a little single malt later on lol....
Ah thanks figure :) Now I know!
I always thought it was meant to be quite bitter? Do you have to salt and strain first like with courgette?
x
Oooh Juglglering, nice! So what is veggie sushi made from?

x
Hi Leela - it's not in the least bitter. When I get them from the market fresh and young I use them raw in salads. It might be an acquired taste though, and not necessary to salt before preparing.

Please excuse me Funnygirl for chatting on your thread.
Veggie sushi - it's just cooked rice wrapped around a marinaded piece of pepper or cucumber, then wrapped up in a seaweed *holder*.... dead easy to eat, great to buy from Tesco's or M&S ready made... lol
Jugglering, that sounds delish! :) Sorry I stuttered over your name in my previous post!
figure, thanks for that, may well give it a go!
x
Figure - can you post your breaded okra recipe over there in Food & Drink if I ask a question about it please ? It sounds brilliant, thanks.

Haha, what a funny thread!

Well, since I'm not going to be skint in 3 - 5 working days, I splashed out and got a bag of swiss crispbread thingies and am munching on those, alternating my toppings between philly and humous :o)
