Hi all,

I realise this may not be a place to post a question quite so hi-tech , but you all seem to be very clever, so asking away ;).

I am able to go on 99.999% of Websites of the World Wide Web. I have a router linking 2 computers, and neither computer can connect to this certain website. I plugged a laptop into the router, it couldn't access the site.
(I get 404 Error in Internet Explorer, and "The document cotains no data" in Firefox (my primary browser)).

The website is http://www.IgnitionHosting.co.uk . I have checked the DNS, and it is all up to date. I have no Firewall running. I am on a DMZ. I don't know what the problem is.

Most other people can go on the website, including my PC downstairs which is hooked up to Yahoo Broadband -- I am on NTL Broadband.

I'll appreciate any help at all. If any more information is needed, just ask ;)

Thank you all, hope you can help!

This sounds like it could be a DNS problem. On your Network connections, look at the proerties of your LAN connection to the router and look at the DNS setting. If there are DNS addresses specified, then write these down, if it says "Obtain DNS from server" or some such then switch that off and enter the following DNS IP addresses (BT DNS) Primary 217.35.209.180 Secondary 194.72.9.34.

The Primary is a special one that circumvents the BT sanitising process, whereas the Secondary does use the sanitiser, blocking access to certain "naughty" sites.

With these settings I was able to load the page at the URL you quoted. If this does not work on your setup then return yuor DNS settings to the previous values and look for something else.

Thanks for the reply.

When I connect to my router (192.168.0.1 for this router), the only tabs are Advanced internet, Access Control, Remote Management, Virtual Servers, Dynamic DNS, Upgrade Firmware, Config File, PC Database, Network Diag, Options, Security, Logs, MAC Address and Routing.

The only mentions of DNS are Dynamic DNS, Backup DNS and DNS Lookup.

I use a Sitecom xDSL/Cable Broadband Router DC-202. I can't find a way to set the DNS at all.

Since I've posted, I've talked to a friend who is also on NTL Broadband , and he can't connect to the site either. It could be NTL that is causing the problem?
If I can't figure out a way to set my DNS, I'll give NTL a ring. Will wait until I get another reply though. ;)

Once again, thanks Hippy.
Just FYI, the DNS of the site should be 67.18.146.90 .

Thanks alot,
Imagine.

i had a problem a while back where i could not get on google !

but if i manually entered the ip address i could - very wierd

Aye, I've tried that already - just in case ;)
No luck
If it helps at all Imagine, I'm also on NTL Broadband & whenever I try your link I can't connect to that site either - just keep getting "This page cannot be displayed".  Might be worth giving the helpline a call.

You can access it from whatever they use at Fleet library (where I am currently waitnig for Mme LeMarchand).

I have to say that it doen't bode well for their hosting service if people have problems accessing their main site!

Question Author
Aye, it appears it is only NTL Customers who can't get on this site.
I'll give em a ring and post the results.

Thanks all,
Imagine
