Push fit terminals on light fitting

I purchased a bathroom light fitting (zone 2,3, BS 7671;2001 Section 601)and am rather perturbed to see there are no screw terminals on the lampholder. Every one I've ever fitted has had simple screw terminals either on the fitting or on a connector block. I showed the fitting to a qualified sparks who said it was a push-fit connection, and that he wouldn't fit it! I purchased the lamp from a reputable dealer (Wickes).
Are these push-fit terminals very common nowadays? I'm not too impressed.

I agree they should be taken off the market.However its not too difficult to replace the push fit with a screw type terminal.

Thanks for your response Bright Spark. I presume from your user name you are also a qualified sparks. If so that makes two (from two!) who have criticised them. I find it baffling that in these days of Health & Safety, Part P etc, stores such as Wickes are allowed to sell such items.
Wickes allegedly also sell consumer units that are apparently not meeting requirements.
