I recently started a weight loss program in which I was instructed to start eating fresh fruits and drink natural juices. I noted that since I was sticking to my diet, my body began to halt in weight loss and suddenly I had a onset of flu like symptoms that would not leave. Watery eyes, drippy nose, weakness and joint pain and lethargy. I was feeling pretty upset and pushed myself even more, the symptoms are almost untolerable at present. I was agast until I saw an article on Candida Ablicans. I live in the United States and I know European medicine is a lot different from our own. It makes total sense to me that frequent uses of antibiotics could create an abnormal situation in your system by killing off vital bacteria and allowing opertunistic ones to overload your system that normally would be in check. I need a diet that can halt the overgrowth, put my body back into balance and not spend an ungodly amount doing it. I don't mind spending funds on something worthwhile though, problem is, I have no idea what is. I need a remedy, a diet and an educated course of action. Can someone help me?

Could it be that what you are doing is a detox? In which case, your symptoms are totally normal. It is your body's way of eliminating the toxins. Your body shuts down normal functions and puts all it's energy into re-building. That is why you feel exhausted and flu-like. The drippy nose etc in the toxins coming out! Bear with it!! It will get better. It is important you don't push yourself, and better to do a detox when you don't have to go to work! I don't think it is anything to do with candida. Read this article..

nevaeh, you could get lots of interesting advice here, but at the end of the day, you don't sound too well my dear. Get yourself along to your doctor for some professional treatment, and ask to be referred to the dietician. We are very lucky in UK as this is all free of charge, but if money is an issue in seeing the doctor in the US, remember your health is too precious to neglect, do try to see health professional without delay. Good luck!

I started to follow a really healthy eating plan during the summer and after a few weeks began to feel dreadful, with symptoms much the same as your own.I was told it was a natural response and is called the healing crisis(as explained by scarlett). You should be able to find info on the internet, but if things are unbearable it may be best to get checked out.
in england a lot of people go to weight watchers you can also do it on line,,,and they allow you to eat anything as long as you dont go over the limit of what you are allowed it is all worked out in points..you cant live on fruit and juices and stay healthy...if people keep using anti biotics they cease to work within your system and yes they can create fungal infections..i would go along to your local drugstore and get an all in one tablet to clear your body of any fungal infection ,,and then do a safe sensible balanced diet..by eliminating certain foods you are just running your system down..if you cant find the weight watchers site on line ask here and someone will give you the address.. best of luck  gypsy
For all medical questions, we strongly advise you to seek professional advice from your doctor or a healthcare professional.  Please do not rely on, or wait for, advice from Answerbank users.
Also, if you like the principal of detoxing, I suggest Carol Vorderman's detox book/video!! It is not as harsh as some, and I have been doing it for 6 months now with only side effects at the start.
