i was just cruisng around Libya on google earth and just south-southwest of Tripoli, theres some huge round shapes that look like some sort of crop system. Anybody know what they are?

They possibly are crop-related...namely, rotary irrigation systems. They are common in Arab lands. Long-armed rotors mounted centrally revolve, scattering water as they go. The result is a perfect circle of greenery in a sea of sand.
I'm not claiming the above is what is happening in Libya, but it is certainly a possibility.

I wasn't really expecting any stars, as I gave a somewhat tentative answer. However, I always feel that getting one star is just "damning with faint praise" and I imagine most AnswerBankers would rather do without it. Now I've got four stars, so "Yeehah!"
