hi i am a first year nursing student and i have been set an essay with the title
'choose one aspect of your own professional code of conduct/ethics and discuss how it realtes to the process of collaborative working in practice, utilising relevent literature'
I have picked confidentiality as my aspect of the code on conduct, and i wonder if anyone has any advice on linking confidentiality to collaborative working?
thanks

would collaborate working mean liasing with different agencies. eg social work services or other departments within your workplace?
patent confidentiallity would be not discussing patients health detals over the phone in a open nurses bay, taking patients into a consulting room respecting their dignity?
utilising relevent literature would be you understanding the codes of conduct and using them to found your values from when working with patients?
is this useful?
Basically I would be looking on the lines of when sharing confidential info about clients they need firstly to give their permission so they need to be signing the relevant forms and also talk about the times when you will need to break it with regards to child protection, adult protection and if the person poses a risk to themselves or others. Also that not everything does need to be shared so its about sharing the relevant things to other agencies particulary if you are working with child protection at core group meetings or case conference where only the relevant agenda would be discussed.
