Are there real practical difficulties travelling in Syria during Ramadan, beyond the expected ones of buying food being more problematic during the day?

I am not from Syria but can tell you that in any Muslim country there are no limitations on None Muslims. Even if you are Muslim and are traveling then you can give up fasting.

Other difficulties - Sometimes in middleeast they do close shoping centres during specific hours (usually after noon) in Ramadan.

Sorry can't tell more.
