updating new ipod nano

i recently bought the new video ipod nano, everytime i go to update none of the songs copy onto the ipod. Is there something i need to do or something i'm doing wrong?

Are you dragging them onto the removable drive that appears in My Computer or are you using iTunes?

If you simply drag them on to the iPod, the iPod acts as a storage drive. You can only use iTunes to transfer files in order to listen to them on the iPod...
