When I got up this morning I noticed my right eye was a bit blood shot. I've looked it up on the internet and have now panicked myself into thinking it's something serious!

Anyone else have a theory into what causes blood shot eye?

Yes my boyfriend gets that its normally due to lack of sleep or an infection. If it doesnt go by tomorrow i would go to the docs see if you need any eye drops. xx

haha 3ightball, I don't look at a pc all day...just 22 hours lol (sandra pokes tongue out)

I do have a rubbish sleep pattern right enough and I had a twitchy eye the other day now this. I'll do that ilsonchick, if it's not better by tomorrow I'll go to docs. thanks : )
Could be conjunctivitis but I am full of a cold at the moment and my eyes are all pink and bloodshot today. Maybe go and see the pharmacist before you go to the docs?
Twitchy eyes and bloodshot eyes are usually caused through tiredness and lack of sleep and can be made worse with eyestrain (my left eye has been twitching all week and is looking red. I think my Nintendo DS might have something to do with it!). I wouldn't worry at all.

^^^do you know that's so weird. I was in the company of a guy smoking that sh*t at the weekend. It wouldn't take a few days to irritate my eye tho would it??
You probably rubbed it in your sleep or got some dust in it, and scratched it without realising. Has it cleared up now? Fresh air usually does the trick! If not, see the Doc now, or nurse will do.

Sorry couldn't resist! LOL
If its also very sensitive to light (i.e. painful, so that you need to sit in the dark) then you need to get it looked at very soon ... it could be conjunctivitis, iritis or something else such as as a corneal ulcer. Ive had all three of those. Theyre all unpleasant and they each require different treatments and they wont get better on their own.

If you havent got photophobia, then I dont know what it is, but it might not be anything serious and could even clear up in a few days.
Everyone's given very good reasons for getting bloodshot eyes, but rubbing them just makes it worse, because it means that some tiny capillaries under the skin've broken.
