It's for a quizmail question so I don't want to be too precise in case people get a bit hot under the collar..... Basically I want class names of insects, but can only find Firefly which doesn't seem to contain the info I need.

I'd tried that one too. It's pre or just post-1830s, i.e. very early. I do have a slightly unsatisfactory answer which fits most of the clues, so I'll probably go for that one. Will try ref library tomorrow to confirm. Many thanks for your help.
