I keep hearing "modern diesels are quiet and perform as well as a petrol car". Bowlocks! I can hear any diesel in the next bleedin street they sound like a 10 ton truck! Performance, don't get me started 0-60?? I can turn over the bl00dya calendar they're so slow. The day I cannot tell a diesel is a diesel by listening to it then I'll start to believe. They sound like an old moggy with the tappits donald ducked! rant over! who's got a diesel then? and why are there no diesel motorbikes?

Mine doesnt, it sounds purrrrrrrfectttt.

Are you talking about the present or the 40s?
My last car was diesel - my new car is diesel and my next one will be too. I know they dont sound like a petrol, but they are reliable and quick enough. They are a lot better than they used to be - most Common Rail diesels are quick and responsive.
I like them so I have them and I do not care what you think about them either.

well clearly you do care, why comment at all?
My wife and myself have been using diesel cars for 12 years now,and i certainly would not change back to petrol, unless there was a huge price incentive,
Don't know what you have tried in diesel vehicles, but most are perfectly acceptable nowadays, unless of course you are a boy racer,
I answered because you asked for my opinion. As to caring - as I do not know you, I really do not care what your opinion of anything is. If you did not want to know what people think - then why ask the question?
We have a diesel car ...reliable ..not noisy
cheap to run...and the road fund tax is 35
per year ...well pleased .. have had diesels
for years but this is the best so far ...
it not a boy racers car ...
I drive a Focus TDCI Estate 1.6 ( company car) when it goes in for service they usually lend me a Focus 1.6 petrol would much rather drive my diesel maybe a bit noisier but I can make it shift OK.
