Could this ammount of tax payer's money have been better spent?

Why Irish homosexuals?

Could this be classed as the very extremes of PC, or a snub for English, Scottish or Welsh homosexuals?

I asked an Irish friend and he tells me that there are NO Irish homos.
WTF does this bit mean?

"Roisin Ryan-Flood, the sociologist leading the project, says she wants to 'uncover the ways in which contemporary sexual citizenship, migration and LGBT imaginaries of the metropolis are mutually implicated in complex ways'."

Can they not just speak plain English?

In answer to your question......Yes it is a waste of taxpayers money!

82,000 does seem a bit much.

On the 'PC' thing - it's likely because that specific subject hasn't been researched before. Not an evil lefto commie conspiracy to snub people for no reason.

It's essentially just a research project being funded by the state. Nothing new.

He's wrong.

Quick translation, "can we have 82k for doing s*d all please."
Think I'll go to my local council and try that one. String a few big words and some other pc rubbish together and see what happens.

Ask the Mail. They put it there.

Tiger:

Obscure subjects are being researched all the time (as they have to for PhDs and such). The reason this subject is being researched is most probably because there's a gap in the evidence regarding why LGB migrants flock to London.

This particular research project has received state funding. There is nothing new about this. I'd like you to point out to me directly where someone has fabricated anything or lied.

There is an instinctive flinch one has to that amount of money being spent on such an obscure project, but it happens all the time. And you can't really complain about which projects get funded and which don't. Unless you're opposed to state funding for academic research.
UI love the Mail's picture with posed for by models written underneath.

Just in case you needed help in picturing what a Gay, Lesbian, Bi-Sexual or Trangender couple looks like they've hired a couple of male-models to pose with a pram to show you!

Straight out of "Drop the dead Donkey!" (that dates me!)

Oh it must be nice for the goverment to have at hand a multitude of fully paid up members of the looney left at their disposal.

Chuck anything at them and they will cower down and accept it without question, in fact they will spend their time trying to convince the rest of us why it is beneficial for us.

They will even let the Goverment squander their hard earned cash without question on any dim-wit scheme that is currently in vogue.
Honestly? You're looking for things to get outraged about.
This isn't a story anyway!

What "row" are they talking about?

The Tax Payers Alliance has issued a press release condemining it.

Who are the Tax Payers alliance?

http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=Tax _Payers_Alliance

A group of 3 Conservatives with advisors from institutions like the Adam Smith Institute, and the policy for policy studies!

So what are we talking about really?

Group of 3 Tories dislikes public money funding research into Gay communities?

Well hold the front page!
