42, being the answer to Life, the Universe and Everything (Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Douglas Adams.) However, according to some sources, also the top level of a car park in Birmingham - although I'm a bit doubtful about that one!

There is no 42-storey car park in Birmingham. Of course, they could have been speaking metaphorically!

I've answered this one before at: question 9818 but basically, the car park notion is one they came up with on tour when they were getting bored of the same question coming up...

It's def. the Douglas Adams answer which provides a link between them and pink floyd as Adams played guitar on stage with the floyd in the nineties.
