I am running windows XP which was pre-installed and I wasn't given an XP disk.

Is there a way to copy my hard drive contents to CD, including the pre-installed Win XP

Hi Bob Oliver

Your operating software, Win XP pre installed will be located in a partitioned file on your current hard drive acessable via a rescue(usually red in colour) boot 3.5 floppy disc usually. I know this sucks but as far as I know you will not be able to simply copy this and there are protocols in downloading to a partition file anyways.

Most folks who have wised up to this, get two hard drives. make one master and the other slave. Keep yout operating system on the smaller hard drive whilst all your valuable files on ther other hard drive.

If your operating systems experiences a crash, it is a simple re-install. To back up your entire data, check out Norton Ghost:

Symantecs Norton Ghost 9.0 provides advanced backup and recovery for your PC. Protect your data by making a backup of your hard drives contentswithout restarting Windows. Incremental backups save you time and disk space. You can even schedule backups to run automatically. Quickly restore individual files, selected folders, or the entire hard drive.
