Does anybody know some simple script that I can add to my HTML page so that I know how many people have visited it?  Not the whole site just one page.  Its a jump page that is only accessible through a site on which we advertise, and so I want to measure how much traffic it is bringing us.  Thank you peeps!

A simple counter is of not much use. Much better are stats that tell you where they came from, so you can find who is linking to you, and what search words they used to find you. Several free services are available. Nedstat will give you a count, daily & monthly stats, referrer details  and much more, see http://www.nedstat.com/f35e34_index.htm

Trufresco will give referrer details - see http://www.truefresco.org/referrers.htm

Both involve a small piece of code to be cut and pasted ionto the page you stats for.

If you want to see both in action, visit my website at www.winelabels.org scroll down to bottom. The list of refferrers is from Truefresco, above it is a small blue graph image, click on that for the Nedstat statistics.

I'm sorry but the only counter that is worth anything is the one from Google that says they have 8,058,044,651 web pages indexed.

All other counters on pages are either lies or irrelevant.

Tomorrow I will tell you why.

I use a free counter from.. http://www.sitemeter.com

It gives stats, partial IP numbers, ISP's, etc.

I got a reasonable basic one from fastcounter, until one day it lost 5000 hits, and I still don't know whether I can go back and add them again?

I'm sure you'll find what you want at www.hotscripts.com.
try www.bravenet.com, then sign up and you should find a script for a visitor counter
