I don't know if anybody else has noticed but the Hotmail service has been very poor lately- often it throws you out with a 'server busy' message, which is very frustrating.

Are there any other more reliable (but still free) mail servers that I can use? Is Yahoo any better? Thanks.

I've used http://www.mail.com/ for years.  I've never had any problems with it but you do get occasional adverts (doesn't have pop-ups but you'll sometimes get an ad come up in place of your email, click the skip button & the ad goes away).  You can also choose your own domain from a list (e.g. earthling.net, techie.com, london.com, etc) if that sort of thing appeals to you.

Yahoo is generally reliable. There is also gmail which is in the beta stage at the moment, and myway.com, etc.

Regarding hotmail.. they've been promising us a larger inbox for ages now.. some people have got the new 250mb limit, but many others are still stuck with the 2mb limit. I have had my hotmail account for about 6 years now and still I'm stuck with 2mb.

How many people have got the new 250mb limit, and what country do you live in?

Thanks (so far).

I got the new 250mb limit about 2 weeks ago (I am in England). It's just really frustrating, there are periods of 20 minutes or so when it won't keep my connection running and bombs out. Also it has developed the habit of occasionally taking 2 or 3 days to deliver emails, even to other Hotmail accounts.

I'd concur with the first answer. www.mail.com are pretty reliable and the other advantageis I revceive very little spam on the address - unlike my old homail address. Stoo-pid is right about the adverts though but they are not overly annoying.

If you would like a gmail invitation then let me know your email address. I've had one for quite some time now and its a lot faster/more reliable then hotmail in my opinion and the 1GB mailbox helps a lot.
AB doesn't allow people to publish their e-mail addresses on here, but you can give hints if you know what I mean.
