Has anyone flown on the above route? Was the flight full? Did you book early at full price or did you wait and manage to get it a little cheaper?
Have been invited to a 50th Wedding Anniversary party in New York in June, with my 83 year old mother and 440 is a lot to pay to go to a party!!
Any help or advice gratefully received.

Booking early at full price means 6 months or more ahead. I doubt if your price will go down between now and June - it will start to go up if anything and certainly will do so in the last few weeks. There are no last minute cheapies to fill the seats - you will pay the full price - rather more than 400.

You MIGHT find something cheaper from Heathrow - but then you've the cost and inconvenience of getting there.
I've just done a check on the British Airways website and for a Wednesday to Wednesday in June right now, the price quoted is 358.40 flying from Heathrow to JFK. Perhaps worth a look.

Have a good time
We flew from Bristol to New york and then down to Memphis with Continental. Booked with Thomas Cook last November. They got us extra discount so try them - saved me 200.
The only problems we encountered was delays coming back. Nearly missed our connections.
I've used that route twice and been very pleased with it. Newark airport is much nicer than JFK and if Bristol is your local airport, then it's much easier than going to Heathrow or Gatwick. No individual tvs to watch, just a main one, but it was fine. Legroom was ok too. Flights are not likely to go down in price, but what a lovely treat for your mum - altho Newark is a very big airport and you may need to request a wheelchair for her.

Thanks for all your advice. We have only just had the invitation, so any early discounts are out of the window!! The only reason my Mum is entertaining the idea is because of the Bristol-Newark route - it is such a long haul up to London and through their huge airports. Bristol is small and Newark is local to where we are going and yes, I guess I'll have to get a wheelchair for Mum (she'll hate it :-) Although not totally disabled, she is getting frail and unable to do too many steps and too long a walk.
Re: prices - I did a check on flights over the next few weeks and some were as low as 288 but I guess that is more to do with the season, than reductions in price? Do Continental ever have sales????
