Jammed curtain rail

I have a pair of heavy curtains which run on rails operated by a cord. Ths cord is continuous and runs below and inside the metal rail. At the 'pulling' end it goes over two nylon wheels. At the other end it loops over a wheel and back inside the rail. I think it pulls the front hook and the rest trail, pulled by the moving curtain. The wheels were encased in a cover, which has come off. It seems to have no mechanical function, but when I took the other one off to see if I could find a clue to the original problem, it jammed too! Can anyone help?

I had one of those in an old house I moved into, in the end I cut off the cord and pulled the curtains manually ! Before you cut the cord, make sure you can pull the curtains by hand. Good luck !

Thank you, Smurfchops. They won't move manually either, I'm afraid.
