I have a bit of a dilemma. I have booked a holiday to cyprus with 8 people, and initially got deposits from everyone to enable me to hold the booking. I made everyone promise that every month they would put money toward the booking. The hol cost 350 pp, and so far 6 people have given me 200 with the final payment of 150 due in april which is when the hol has to be paid by.

the other 2 people left are telling me that they want to pay all the money owed to me in april which is due date, and now i am worried that they may cancel at the last minute. I said im not willing to wait til april for them to give me money in case they dropped out, and i will either have to pay loads of money to cover them or try and find 2 people to come on holiday instead at the last hour. Apparently they havent got enuf muny to pay monthly and want to pay it in one go.

I am thinking of saying if they dont give me some money by end of march i will replace them with other people and they will lose their 90 deposits which is all they hav paid so far. Is this fair?

If you had asked before you even took this job on if it was a good idea I would have said NO.

Whenever you get a group of people like this who will say they will pay for something there is always a couple who cant or wont pay or who drop out, leavng the poor sucker who agreed to organize it out of pocket.

The problem you may have in trying to change the people is that the holiday is booked in their names and the holiday company may charge you for changing peoples names on the holiday details.

And YES, I do think you are being fair. If they are not willing to pay like everyone else throw them off the holiday. After all it is you who will be out of pocket.

Oh..and you have learnt your lesson, dont do anything like that again unless everyone pays up front.

thanks huni, i def wont b doing it again i promise, its just way to much hassle!
I don't understand why they don't have enough money to pay monthly, yet supposedly will have to pay in one go!

If it was me, I'd try to line up some substitutes and then isssue an ultimatum that they either do it your way or the deals off.
