I've just had a visit from an NPower rep trying to get me to go back to them and have the price fixed for 3 years. He also said that the fuel prices will go up again shortly. Arrggghh!

Why do they keep going up so often? I and millions of others only get one pay rise a year ffs, not to mention the poor pensioners who suffer the most!

We have a duel fuel bill from BG, and signed up to have prices capped until 2010. Their prices were probably higher than other companies to begin with, but at least we won't get any more rises for another two years or so.

Looks like I'm going to have to have words with Eon to see if they can cap my bills Ice!
Hi tigger i get really annoyed at the price increases especially when you hear the profits these companies make.

I get both of mine from Scottish Power and they are fab, i pay a weekly amount for both my gas and elec and i feel what i pay is fair.
Never been with them Tigger, but BG've done it twice to my knowledge so far. Getting your electricity from them's definitely cheaper than many other places - although I believe their gas prices are higher. Still, we're safe for a while longer.

Hi Louisa, x

Scottish Power sounds good. Can I get them down in London? Lol
Hi Louisa - that sounds reasonable then, but I'm not sure whether ours is good or not. The capping thing is - but sometimes we don't use the gas for heating, as we have two open fires as well. Still, the other half seems happy with what we pay.
oops sorry tigger didn't think of that. I would shop around and see what gives you the best deal. Have heard that British Gas have the higest prices though.

I was with BG many years ago and they stuffed me up big time. I had a gas meter and lecy key meter years ago. I changed the key meter to a meter reader as I couldn't be bothered to keep going out for top ups. Anyway, for 3 years after that I was paying estimated bills and no one ever came to read my meters during that time. Then someone turned up and I got slapped with a bill for nearly 1k. I wrote a letter of complaint asking why no one came to read the meter and all I got was a 10 reduction off the bill. I HATE BG!
yes, I've heard plenty of horror stories myself about them, but I can assure you that they're cheaper than whatever was in here before - particularly the electric. I think most companies'll continue to increase their charges, so all I'm thinking, is that I'm glad we opted for the capping when we did.
I went to the e-on web site and put in my details as a customer of ScottishPower - they calculated I could save 30 a year.

I went to the ScottishPower web site and put in my details as a customer of e-on - they calculated I could save 60 a year.

I wonder who is telling the most truth?
That's it, isn't it? Where you think you're making a saving, someone always professes to be able to beat it. Just think it's a case of shopping around for the one which YOU feel's best.
Anyway ladies - off for tea now. Enjoy the debate - x

I've just been on moneysupermarket.com and Eon come out the best for cheapness. I think I'll stay with them and call them to see about capping my bill.

I wish we had ScottishPower down here.

ah well! that's the way it goes i suppose, although it's real bad for the old folks here too...had a feature on our local news about pensioners called "heating or eating" thought it was very sad.
