Does anyone out there remember this song? It was from about the mid - 1950`s. I can even recall many of the lyrics. I`ve recently tried everywhere to find any info on it, but have drawn a complete blank. I was wondering if anyone else remembers it? 711

Was it definitely "Lewes" as in county town of East Sussex or maybe "Lewis" as in "Isle of Lewis"?

My father was from Lewes and I have quite an involvement but know nothing of this song.

I can`t be absolutely certain, of course, but I`ve always understood it as being Lewes, Sussex. It`s a real enigma, as an old friend of mine also remembers the song.
