Genuine Global knives should have a few things marked on them... there should be the 'YOSHIKIN' logo inside a capsule shaped border on one side, near the top of the blade. There should also be a marker for the steel grade, 'molybdenum/vanadium' or something like that, if i remember correctly. Either on the knife itself, or in it's packaging there should be the model number of the knife, such as 'G' 'GS' 'GF' 'GSF' followed by a number. The 'G' knives are the longer bladed design, 'GS' are smaller knives, and the 'GF/GSF' are drop-forged designs.

To be honest, if you check them and all these marks are present, as they probably would be on a good copy, the only way to tell is to use them. The balance, quality of the blade's finish, and weight will show a genuine knife.
