Has anyone read The Secret History by Donna Tartt? I would like your opinions on the book as I have just read it (10 years after it was first released) I thought it was a modern classic and a fantastic book, has anyone got any thoughts? Thanks

I read it several years ago so I can't remember the details, but whilst it was certainly gripping, I remember there were some cliches particularly towards the end of the book, which I found irritating.

Hgrove - like the story tied up all the loose ends? is that what you mean?
I can't remember the details but I think the cliche that irritated me was all the stuff about the twins and their Catholic sense of guilt and how the female twin becomes a nun in the end.  I am a lapsed RC and I found all that smacked of anti-RC prejudice.  I am afraid, however, that is all I can remember.
I loved it. Try the follow-up, The Little Friend.
