I think it is part of the Wonderland Pleasure Park and Garden Centre near Mansfield. The web link is http://www.isipreview.co.uk/wonderland/ but the site is undergoing reconstruction at the moment. The Lightning was possibly based at one of the RAF bases in that area.

Hi Gef - the plane I'm thinking of is about 20 miles from Mansfield; it's at the side of the southbound carriageway of the A1, by the Balderton junction. The A1 goes on a flyover just there so it's a bit difficult to see, especially from a car, unless you go round the junction under the flyover. It's missing quite a few bits and covered in graffitti. Perhaps it was once an advert for a museum near Newark...?
