I've just discovered that the carpet shark got its name from its preoccupation of lying on the sea bed 'like a carpet'. Does it take the informed insight of a marine biologist to name such things, or can anyone (i.e. me) have a go?

In the realms of marine biology it's actually called a wobbegong, it's only prolls like us that call it a carpet shark.

Much appreciated,Rabelais, but Wobbegong is an Aboriginal word rather than a scientific one. I was clinging to a romantic notion of replacing the lap dog with the carpet shark (which would be grossly unfair on those people with laminate floors). Or it could be a shark that only eats carpet... or something. Anyway, I want one for Xmas.
