Hi, not sure if u mean which breed of cat. If u wanted a breed I wouldn't know, but if u mean which sex, I would say definately a female which hasn't been neutered. My un neutered females were always good hunters (I didn't like it though as I didn't need them to hunt) but I always had a good supply of dead mice and birds, LOL
Females are better ratters than males. They seem to have been hard- wired to hunt and kill whatever they can whenever they can, perhaps because they instinctively catch food for kittens they haven't got , nature having set them with a default hunting mechanism, whilst his lordship can't be bothered unless he himself feels hungry enough to catch rats and can't nick some of hers.

Hunting is largely learned. Farm cats are better than domestic ones because they all learn from mum and she from her mum and all mums before her. All had to kill to survive and any mum that never learned the arts would produce a bloodline that would soon die out.
We live on a lifestyle block and have 2 male neutered cats. Both are good hunters and are always catching rats, mice and small rabbits. Cats are naturally good hunters and can't resist catching anything that moves. Go for a farm cat and you won't be disappointed.
