We instructed the kids to get rid of any of their files on the computer that were no longer required. However, they appear to have wiped off Drive D and E which are the CD Rom drives!!! (This is what hubby tells me).

Can anyone help?

Not sure what's going on there, but I don't think you can delete them even if you wanted to.

Try sticking a CD into your CD ROM drive. An autoboot window should appear. Open up Windows Explorer, look through your list of drives, and presumably your CD drive should now appear.
just reboot they should come back the kids have probably just uninstalled them or try scaning for hardware via control panel
