Does anybody remember a country and western version of the song, 'Misty' .....'look at me, I'm as helpless as a kitten up a tree...'  Its sung by a man and its much perkier/faster than the original. I'd love to know who sings it so I can buy a copy. Thanks.

The only version I know is the original - by ray Stevens, and he is a country singer - is this the version you are looking for?

Thanks andy,

I thought the original was the slow ballady one! Just listened to a clip of Ray Stevens singing it and thats the one I love!! Thanks again.

You are most welcome.
Johnny Mathis had an earlier hit with the slow-mushy version.  Ray Stevens is the lively up-tempo country hit, and appears on numerous country compilation cds.

The original was an instrumental piece by Errol Garner.

Johnny Mathis had a worldwide hit with it in 1959.

Lloyd Price did a successful version of it in 1963.

Ray Stevens didn't produce his upbeat country version until 1975. Terrific arrangement!
