I am involved in sales and have to do a weekly report of where I am going, a weekly report of where I have been, a monthly report of where I have been and where I gone this being about 5 to 7 pages. A monthly mileage report, plus about 10 addition reports, plus other interim information. Wait for it! and then send them to 4 different people!! An I just moaning????

this is dark ages sales monitoring,

the only importance in a sales job is..how much are you selling?

by diluting the quality of meetings with revenue potential in order just to hit a target number is ludicrous,

i would prefer my salesmen to average two visits a day and sell over a million, that ten visits a day and sell half that amount...

sounds like they dont trust you,

next they'll be asking to inspect your underpants!!
Surely last week's report of where you are going bears an uncanny similarity to this week's report of where you've been?

Can't you save these and mark any changes?

The sending to 4 people can be got around by photocopying or multiple emails.

Is there a system for suggesting changes to streamline the business. If not just speak to your line manage. Do a bit of work showing how much time can be saved, and how this will result in more time selling and making them money. Call it a report!!
sales reps are full of stories and bull anyway , I am sure 7 pages is small change, just get out there , more doors you knock the more chances you have , I reckon there are many people in your organisation who bunk off for the day , so thats why all of you are not trusted, like someone said earlier , just put together a basis , of where, who and what you talked about , interests , orders and chase up dates and possible bolt on sales , show them you are effective, again the more doors and people you meet , the more chances you have ....
