Although I have completed the grid the wordplay for two of my answers escapes me. Could someone please explain these to me?

I suppose it depends on your accent?
I'm pronouncing Faust as it is in German - ie F ow st !

But the best I can come up with for your other one is eel vetter . Can you make any sense of that ?

I'm thinking along the lines of 'Mad decline at the set ' becoming ' Sad decline at the Met' and Violetta is from an opera.
I thin the reference is to the opera La Traviata - there is a character called Violetta, who I think dies.
so couild it be ...watched in Sad decline at the Met ?
Yep, Violetta dies of TB at the end of La Traviata.
I think you're absolutely right Kayakamina. Violetta dies of consumption - a very sad decline - in La Traviata.
