Hi - sadly I can't tell you about food allergy testing in your area but do suffer with wheat intolerance. Every one is different, so it will manifest as different symptoms in each individual....me personally its mainly digestive (wind/constipation/diarreah/IBS), but I also get quite depressed and down when I've been eating a lot of it (every day), I also get cravings for it when I do stop eating it (which is a sign that you are sensitive to it)....a good way of telling if you are sensitive to it is avoid it for a few days and monitor yourself.....best of luck trying to find a tester in your area.
Hi - I'm with your first reply - I have a wheat allergy and only really found out by not having any and I just could not believe the difference in how I felt and if I now eat it I feel awful with all of the same symptoms as your first reply.

You can find allergy testers in health shops - some do it for free but they should be able to tell you where to get it done, good luck.

Thanks a lot guys.
An elimination diet is the only true way of checking for a food intolerance - check with your GP for details. As for allergy testing, none of the ones you see in health food shops and online are worth the paper they are written on. Blood tests that claim levels of antibody reaction/IgE in the blood indicate allergy are incorrect - your body just reacts to every kind of food when it is ingested, and this is not a bad thing.

Skin prick/scratch tests are also available on the NHS but still not as reliable as an elimination diet - which is what doctors tend to use nowadays instead.

I know of several people who have ordered online blood allergy tests and have still had symptoms. After undergoing elimination diets through an NHS nutritionist, they have found they are intolerant to entirely different foods than the ones the reports have listed. I would suggest you don't waste your money and get advice off your GP instead.
