What happened to Jim Branning ?

Where did Jim go in eastenders, and why did we suffer that awful episode with just Dot going on about her past.....why is Jim not coming back ?

The actor who plays him had a massive stroke in real life
I think that's what they have written in for him in Easties just in case he returns

The actor who plays Jim had a stroke last year so they have written a storyline saying that Jim is in hospital having had a stroke. I haven't watched Easrtenders for months now so I didn't see the Dot episode.

the actor who plays jim had a severe stroke & is in recovery - he may not ever return to the show. the episode was one that a past writer of eastenders had wanted to write for a long time

i thought that the episode where dot was talking to jim was very moving. i know it`s not real, but i`m sure there were a lot of people who were/are in the same position as dot. what a dilema to be in.
