During the past six months I have twice caused damage to my new Skoda. As both of these incidents were due to my own poor driving and inability to control my car, I am considering taking some basic driving tuition. I would be grateful if anyone has any suggestions of places which may provide driving refresher courses.

Any driving instructor would be happy to depart you of your hard earned cash I'd say.  Just look in your yellow pages.  Other than that, there is an Advanced Driving License which teaches you a lot more about handling a vehicle (when out of control), awareness and the like.  Plus some companies offer 10% discount on insurance if you have it.

As far as I know too, most driving instructors will be happy to give you driving lessons.  I myself passed my driving test on 5 Sept. 2000 but continued to have driving lessons until January 2001, during which time my driving improved hugely.  The course that OBonio refers to I believe is called Pass Plus.  I did it, and found it beneficial although I discovered the much hyped insurance discounts did not materialise.

Any driving school will probably give you a refresher course if you ask - I took extra lessons a couple of years after I passed my test, as I had lost my confidence. Tell them exactly what you want extra help with - such as just motorway experience, or even parking.

I got my confidence back and enjoy driving now.

Good luck.
