Sir Bobby Robson.  The man is a legend & a true gentleman. (Does being a demi-god count as a religious figure?!)
My boss (now can I have that pay rise?)
Harrison Ford. He plays heroes, adventurous types, but with weaknesses and human frailties. That's me.
Peter Phillips
Audrey Hepburn, Madonna, Jenifer Lopez.
Danny Wallace in his book 'Join Me'. If you haven't read it, i'd recommend it. It's non-fiction - an experiment grown out of boredom spirals into a group of thousands people wanting to 'do good deeds'. It makes you realise there ARE good people in the world and we should all realise opportunities to become one of them.
Spike Milligan
Kate Adie. I used to want to be her.

The late John Peel

Nelson Mandella

Rolph Harris!

David Bowie

A friend of mine who has had a lot of hardship but is as strong as a rock both mentally and spiritually.
Mum!

Walter Tull - the first black professional footballer and the first black commissioned officer (at a time when it was contrary to military law)

I'd go along with the majority of these - certainly streets ahead of most of the cretins that people look up today.  Sorry, it's friday, shouldn't sound like an old fogey.   Not convinced about J Lo.

Georgit, you cheated, entirely forgivable though.

Bernardo, nope, sorry, no idea.  As a relative newcomer, I can only assume it is one of in-jokes.  You need a webpage glossary for us simpletons to follow your meaning!

Martin Fyfield, David Straker, Brad Coleman

Being a true blooded WELSHMAN, i have to say OWAIN GLYNDWR, our warrior ! our king! our hero ! i wish i had been thereso many, many years ago ! to have fought for ,and to stand beside HIM as every foe tried to conquer this beloved country ! chasing them back across the borders from whence they came, even entering their country, to make sure they didn't return... oh happy days for us  WELSH folk , but sadly, unable to beat us in battle they crept in through the back door, and NOW I CALL upon you SCOTS  to have your say, WILLIAM WALLACE ?
Yes, 2nd row, William Wallace! (Good point!)
sir ranulph fiennes. all the Beatles, ghandi, father christmas.
Nelson Mandela for his forgiving nature, The Queen for her dignity at all times, Hillary Clinton for coping with the most devastating public humiliation, Madonna for her talent and so many people who are not famous but who have acted selflessly in the face of adversity like the firemen on September 11th.
