Firewalls and Virus checkers

I read somewhere that if you have more that one firewall loaded on your machine this can cause confliction and slow your machine down. Does anyone know if this is true? I have Amor2net and Virgin Broadband plus I think Microsoft

It is true,you only need one firewall and one antivirus program,you can have as many anti spyware programs running as you like though as long as they are stand alone programs.

I should have said Virgin Broadband PCguard. Not sure which I should keep.

there are lots of options unfortunately .....
AVIRA nd AVG are free virus checkers
Zone alarm is a free firewall
Kaspersky is currently getting all the stars in all the mags .... and does an all-in-one package that will keep you safe.

the one exception to all this are malware scanners .... spybot search and destroy, ad-aware should both be used
