There is a product on the market for repairing head gasket failures called Steel Seal.

It works through being introduced into the cooling system and the chemicals somhow seal any breach when under pressure and heat

Has any one tried it? Does it work? I am a bit sceptical.

I would imagine it would also block up the heater matrix aswell
I wouldnt touch it personally, to much of an important part of the engine to put that cr@p in.
If its to fix an old banger long enough to see out its mot & costs 6 or 7 quid a bottle it might be worth a try? after all Radweld is a similar concept & does the job most times.
Rad weld is only working on low pressure, steel seal has to cope with a huge amount of pressure that is risque to say the least
I used to use a product called "Wondaweld" on an old Ford V4, it'd last about 8 months and then go again.
There's an oil additive that you used to be able to get to stop leaks, it might be worthwhile attacking the problem from the other side.
Personally I'd patch it up and part-ex it for something else.
Sorry meant to say I used it for a crack in the block
