The platelet derived growth factor (PDGF) formed in cytoplasm of platelets is useful for the repair of the endothelium and other structures of the ruptured blood vessels.

Both white and red blood platelets play a very important part in keeping the body healthy. The white platelets coagulate the blood, therefore preventing seepage from a damaged vessel, and helping to prevent other body fluids from leaking out.
