"The Prince of Wales was beamed in Star Trek-style for his first appearance as a hologram when he delivered a powerful speech on the environment to the world's leaders before vanishing into thin air.

A life-size, three-dimensional image of the Prince was projected onto the stage of the World Future Energy Summit in Abu Dhabi, in the United Arab Emirates.

The Prince was reluctant to attend the summit in person because the flights for him and his entourage would have generated an estimated 20 tons of carbon waste.

In comparison the hologram is thought to have left a carbon footprint equivalent to a lightbulb."

Well fair on the Prince, I guess some of the royal bashers will still find something to whine about but I think he's shown a lot of initialtive. Hopefully he's also paved the way for politicians etc to save money/Carbon Footprint on travel so hopefully Gromit, yes, he has shown the way to end all these junketts. I bet His Tonyness is pleased he got out when he did!
As a committed republican I love a bit of royal bashing, however, I have to say that I commend the prince of Wales for not attrending the summit in person.

Nah!! never happen
So, basically, we could just get rid of him and have a virtual prince of wales?
Cant we really beam him somewhere - another Galaxy perhaps?

did he really save the 20 tons though, afterall if planes were flying 1/2 empty there nothing really saved is there?
Why stop at the Prince? Lets get rid of that lot in Westminster, and have virtual MPs.
Brilliant. Suprisingly, I'm a closet royalist and think Prince Charles is brilliant. Not only is he setting an example but a story like this surely rightly gets a lot of publicity and should make people think about their own carbon footprints. However, if either Wembley show is replaced with virtual Foo Fighters, I will be demanding my money. back.
