Sewing machine gone mad

My electric sewing machine has taken on a life of it's own,once it is switched on at the socket it sets off and will not stop until switched off at the socket to stop it. Any ideas?

the switch that you put your foot on to govern the speed is the most likely culprit. make sure it's not stuck down.
if your'e near sheperds bush i know a shop that sorts them out
I think you need to ring a catholic priest
A capacitor (suppressor) has a short circuit. Either in the foot control, on the on/off switch, or within the motor.
