Is there a DIY person out there who can tell us what a router tool is and what you use it for, please? All the Google sites assume we know.

Thanks

A router is a power tool with a shaped cutter; used in carpentry for cutting grooves.
I think it's a woodd router your looking for

See here.......

The power tool called a router is like a drill but the cutting edges are on the side so as the rotating tool is moved along, it removes material from in front of it. Complex shapes can be ground out in this manner using variously shaped heads on the router.

Thank you all very much for this. I am into power tools - as any respectable woman should be - and I wondered what I was missing!
