ive been trying to view video clips but clip will play for 2 seconds, then freeze for 7ral seconds - making viewing very frustrating. my laptop is brand new and i have not registered with you tube. i understand that clips could freeze sometimes as its a very popular site but does everyone experience this? or is it because i havent registered?

It depends how compressed the videos are on youtube that you are watching. My PC does this sometimes too.

The reason why is that your PC stores a certain amount of the video in memory then as it plays, it loads more of the film in. The reason it stops is because it has played all the video in memory and needs to load some more in.
As squarebear says, the pause is while more data is buffered. Potential causes are:
Time of day - if you are on at the same time as lots of other users, the YouTube servers will be stressed at that point.
If you are on at the same time as everyone else in your area (say, when you first get in from work or school) the local loop will be stressed in the same way.
If you always rush to watch clips that have been recommended on a popular site, you'll also hit a problem.

But the problem could be entirely local to you - have you checked your speed lately? Have you got some real cr@p protection software (eg Norton) which is causing a bottleneck on your machine?
