online friends?

Ever made an online friend?Not a chat online friend.I mean a real friend you see regularly that you didnt know before ?maybe beenh on holiday with them spent xmas etc with them?is it possible to really get that friendly or is there always a barrier no matter how small that is the internet and the distance from reality that it involves?Or not?

I think in making good friends with people thorough the internet may put alot of people of for various reasons, the two main ones i can think of are; what other people might think of you, for example people might think its weird or something and feel put off by telling other people how you know each other. and through the internet you dont really know who people really are, they could be lying through their teeth to you about everything and you dont really know.
Where as if your constantly around someone, through going to school with people, working together or living close by you would thrust becoming a good friend with that person more easily.

Oh and no ive not made any real online friends and mainly for those reasons.

Im not saying its possible or not.Just think you can be friends but only to a point ?

Well yea, its just trust. But on the other hand your best friend might turn out to be a serial killer so with making friends online or any more common way, you never know.

Its a very good question i think and i like to hear more what other people have to say and if they have ever made real friends through the internet.
And i know theres plenty cause we often hear about people gettin married after meeting online so obviously people have made good friends wit other people too

yes is my answer and its well documented on here that me and raysparx are great friends, we have met and yes, he is every bit as real in my life as any friends i have known from years past. the fact that we met on here is irrelevant. we hit it off, that is that.
i have another friend who i feel the same about but am yet to meet her and that is helliebobs but we are very close and i think the world of her. Again, no diffferent to any of my "real" friends.
i see meeting someone online as no different as metting them anywhere else.

yes its possible but rare,
bbw and myself are very close too, almost like sisters,
if you noticed how we refer to each other on a certain site.
i think the world of her, we e -mail and phone all the time and i cannot wait till i meet her in person, which wont be too far away.

Ive made friends on-line who are now quite simply friends who I sometimes see on-line as we keep in touch as you would with other pals.
I have been on holiday with someone I met on-line and now is someone who is quite simply one of my closest friends.
I have spoken to Legend on the phone and he keeps me grounded at times and on the occasions I have spoken with him he has been a really good laugh -really easy to get on with -thats why I say he's a pussy cat really but hey I dont want to ruin his rep -lol Now await the inevitable caustic remark............

Ive made friends via parenting forums. Some i may just see once a year others every fortnight but we are still great mates and talk on phone, via text, email or msn most days.

There are a handful of people on this site who I'm in contact with off it and I can say in all honesty I really do give a sh1t about their well being, look forward to hearing from them and have been touched several times by their friendship and kindness. Just because I don't speak to them daily or phone them or go for a beer with them does not mean I like them any less than people I do.

There are some really nice and good people out there and I'm glad to know them.
