The suffix 'a' is used in Arabic to create the feminine version of male words. For example, a Sultan's wife is called a Sultana (yes, really!) and a Sheikh's wife is called a Sheikha. As 'prince' in Arabic is Amir/Emir, his wife would be an Amira/Emira.

Thanks for the previous answer but I eventually found the correct answer myself: Begum.
'Begum' is an Urdu word and as such would certainly be used for a Muslim princess in Pakistan, where that is the official language, or in India, perhaps. However, you would be unlikely to hear it used in Saudi Arabia, North Africa, any of the other Middle East countries or elsewhere in the Muslim world. The point I'm making is that 'Begum' isn't the "correct" answer, it's "an" answer applicable in certain areas. Cheers.

Actually, Begum is the "correct" answer, Quizmonster. If you had read the question properly, you would have read the clause "in some countries". The point I am making is that ... well, I just made it. Thanks anyway for the additional info.
Actually, I did read the question correctly, unless you're suggesting that Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Egypt, Libya, Morocco, Oman, Lebanon, Syria and lots more DON'T qualify to be considered as "some Muslim countries" as well! There, MY answer is "correct" and 'Begum' ISN'T. That's all I wanted you to grasp...but I'll leave it at that.
