i am going to view a rented flat today with a letting agent. is it possible to barter with them regarding the rent or are they uually hard and fast rules. same with the service charges - are they non-negotiable. answers before 12 please - thankyou very much

you may be able to ask the agent to pass on your offer to the owner of the property but only the owner will be in a position to change the rental on the property.
There's nothing stopping you making an offer on the rental, it really depends from the landlord/agents viewpoint how many applicants they have, whether you seem like a good tenant and how long you intend staying in the property.
