I am thinking of putting my house on the market and not using an estate agent. However I obviously have to provide a Home Information Pack to a prospective purchaser - I think.
Has anybody tried a do-it-yourself version or are there dedicated businesses that do them.
Looking at the internet it looks like the cost of a diy version is about 300. Don't know about an agency cost though.
Thanks in advance

This Government site tells you about DIY HIPS. It's relatively simple to do the local and Land Registry searches but you will have to pay someone to assess to produce an Energy Performance Certificate for you.

Buikdersmate thank you for that.
I missed your reply so sorry about the delay in acknowledging. I have added the web site to my favourites to peruse at leisure. It is always a pleasure to read your contributions. Regards
Hi I am also trying to get my head round HIPS and in a nut shell I think it is a load of rubbish no carpets are disturbed no fittings are removed no loft is gone into no responsibility for any statements made I dont have a cavity wall in my house wonder how that comes out on EPC (energy performance certificate)
If you have something for sale and someone wants the item at the right price and you each go along to a solicitor and tick the right boxes for a amicable sale costing of goods/property what does it matter how you wrap it up, sale of goods act they want you have ?
I have heard that if you dont have proper documentation at a cost of 500 to go with the sale you can be find 200.
Not sure what court that would be though.
I am interested to see your interpretations of HIPS and your views, oh and happy new year HTH Tez

Whilst I am sure that everybody would agree with your sentiments, at the moment we have to accept what is.
Have a look at the site above that buildersmate(spelt it properly this time)referred to me. I think it explains it all.
Thanks parkesquay/buildersmate sorry to use your thread this way but it is topical and relevant.
I was just wondering what the bottom line is in this as a buyer you still need to have structural surveys if you or mortgage co need that, dont you?.
As a vendor with deeds if you dont provide any HIPs but the buyer still wants at the price and not bothered about them HIPs what then ?notwithstanding that I could provide HIPs if it law?? maybe I am missing a point somewhere.
