Does anyone know how i would go about claiming on a guarantee from 1984 regarding a damp course.
The company do not exist anymore, but i was told that you can claim if it is under guarantee...wether the company are still active or not.
Do i contact anyone specific, ie solicitor, CAB...???

Any answers appreciated.
Thanks

It depends on the wording of your guarantee. If the damp course was installed by, say ,Acme Builders, using Sovereign chemicals, and Acme Builders went under, then you can claim from Soverign Chemicals.
If the damp course was installed by Acme Builders, was not underwritten by any other firm and Acme Builders then go under, you have no one you can claim from.
I assume the warranty was for 30 years then? - some are for shorter periods.
Then read the policy and see what it says about the organisation named on the policy. It may be an insurance company (best) or it may be the contractor. If it is the contractor you could find out whether the company was taken over by another or just wound-up.
No point paying good money talking to a solicitor over this - but CAB may be able to help you track it down.
