Lavinia

At a guess I would say that it must be London Calling by The Clash.

Not that I've seen the film or anything...

The Clash - the band The Strokes are trying to be
(but never will)
I should be watching the film later tonight, if I watch it I will try to remember to listen out for it.  It does seem that it may be the Clash.
The clash - The stokes     What comparison???    The Clash were fantastic the strokes just aren't
i agree the strokes and the clash arent the same but the clash - brilliant ? sure they did a few good songs but thats it.the strokes are good but their stuff is a bit 'samey' but id rather listen to them anyday.you gotta move forward and not stagnate listening to the same old sh1te !!!!!

You haven't GOT to move forward - a true good eclectic taste in music would incorporate the best whether it was new or old. Personally I enjoy music created well before I was born taht my dad listens to and some he doesn't, as well as the music I have listened to as i've grown up. Thus i listen to music from Pink Floyd to The Jam to Oasis to Drum n Bass to NuSkool Breaks. So you haven't got to move forward - i think you've GOT to appreciate whatever you listen to and like. If you don't like something the you don;t like something. But if your reason for not liking something is because its old, then it just shows narrow mindedness.

It's not a case of new music v old, it's more a case of the Strokes being singularly incapable of producing a song with half the wit, style and musical dexterity of London Calling let alone a body of work comparable to that of the Clash, one of the greatest bands of all time. Strokes are simply poster boys for a style-mag generation.

hear hear - how is "moving forward", listening to poor imitations of earlier bands?
I said fantastic not brilliant - slight difference... to me anyway.
You dont just have to be great muscians to be fantastic or brilliant.  The clash were great on stage - such raw and original energy.

Um, I think she just wanted an aswer to her question, not a debate. Toodle pip . p.s Lavinia, two words, can and worms.

"Um" Meanmaori, i think the question was answered at the start. Nothing wrong with a debate you don't have to read it if you don't want
