I haven't seen the ad but in one of his books is a recipe I use all the time - red cabbage braised with apple, bacon and balsamic vinegar.
Olive oil
250g/9oz smoked streaky bacon, chopped
1 tablespoon fennel seeds - bashed
1 onion, peeled & sliced
2 eating apples, peeled & chopped into 1" pieces
1 red cabbage, chopped
salt & pepper
150ml/5.5 fl oz balsamic vinegar
a knob of butter
handful of chopped fresh parsley
Pour a glug of olive oil in a pan, add the bacon & fennel seeds & cook until golden. Add the onion & cook until golden. Add the apple, cabbage, salt&pepper & balsamic vinegar & stir well. Put a lid on the pan and cook on a low heat for one hour, stirring occasionally.
To serve, put the knob of butter on top & sprinkle on the parsley.
It's gorgeous!
