Electric Guitar question!

Hopefully I'm getting an electric guitar and amp for Christmas (so excited!) but I was just wondering - does either the amp or the guitar come with the leads to connect the 2? Sorry for coming across as stupid but I know practically zilch about electric guitars - I've only got an acoustic at the moment which obviously is a lot easier to figure things out with!

Thanks

Hmm,it all depends on where you buy it,if it comes in package deal etc, everytime i`ve bought my sons(about 6!)they have supplied a lead.

Mines not coming in a package deal as they didn't have the colour I wanted in a package - can you tell I'm a girl?!
Haha, worry not,i`m female too and much to my sons annoyance i always try to pick his basses by the colour i like! Can`t you ask whoever your`e buying it off, they might throw one in for you...if you go all girlie!LOL
Put on your best girlie charm and take yourself along to a reputable music shop that sells this stuff - but not on a Saturday (that's when you get know-it-all Saturday boy).

From experience, most of the 'proper' employees of these places will be happy to help. After all, everyone had to start somewhere.

Thanks for your answers guys - good news for anyone in my vicinity over Christmas is that I'm not a complete beginner - I already play an acoustic so I should be fine with an electric - its just the 'mechanics' of how they work etc that are currently a mystery!
